We tend to skip fundamentals because we would rather be perceived as someone who has already mastered the concept, or we fear committing time to fundamentals may seem less professional (the biggest problem in youth basketball)
Over the past years, I have simplified my training methods to the very basics – basic footwork, basic mechanics, decision making and spacing.
On social media, we see all the time some 5 or 6 dribble combination moves with 4 different hesitations. As good as it looks on Instagram it probably will not give your child an athletic scholarship.
Stick to the basics…
